Monday for breakfast with CityXcape!
Linda is a teacher, digital creator, traveller and owner of the blog “Lunedì a colazione”, (literally translated “Monday for breakfast“), in which she writes about the most significant travels and experiences she experiences.
Among her most recent travels there is Palermo. Thanks to its ancient history – starting from the Normans to its ancient traditions, made of knowledge and food and its bright colours, characteristic of Sicilian folklore, – the city is able to charm everyone who visit it. So, Linda has decided to write about Palermo on her blog.
Of course, she wrote about CityXcape too!
We guided Linda along the typical Palermo alleys and views, passing through the Ballarò market up to Piazza della Memoria. Do you want to know more about her experience?
Ciao Linda, how would you describe your experience with CityXcape?
If I had to use three words to describe my experience with CityXcape I would definitely use: exciting, detailed and involving.
Exciting because in every moment the CityXcape team knows how to keep the attention high. They know how to involve your attention by telling anecdotes and stories related to Palermo and its inhabitants.
History, historiography and ethnology come together in a story that involves step by step.
Detailed because the tour does not leave out any detail of the city. Starting from the street food, passing by its architecture, urban planning up to popular traditions.
Finally, involving because the CityXcape staff is pleasant and friendly, making each participant feel at ease and in the right place.
What made you to choose Palermo as a travel destination?
Palermo is the city where my father lived for many years and I have always visited it through his eyes and his stories. As I like to mention I feel myself as a “nomadic soul”, and visiting the city from just one point of view was no longer enough for me. I needed to build a new relationship with the city. I wanted to discover more than the mainstream and touristy way.
That’s why I chose one of the most iconic CityXcape city walks.
What did you like most about the Iconic City Walk?
What I appreciated the most about the iconic City Walk is the excellent way the team works.
They accompanies you from the moment of the booking until the end of the tour. During the experience they are ready to answer any kind of question and they promptly answer even all kind of request.
What was the best memory this experience has left you?
The best memory was to visit the Sicilian Cart Museum and the acquaintance of Franco Bertolino, master of the ancient art of the construction of the Sicilian cart. This was truly an experience that only locals, such as CityXcape team, can offer and recommend.
It was a real journey within a journey!
Would you recommend our readers to count on CityXcape for their next trip to Sicily?
Absolutely! I also hope to be able soon and again to join another of the CityXcape city walks.
I actually hope to join the City Walk – The sound of the Markets. In other words, the discovery of the city of Palermo starting from its rich and multifaceted tradition.
