Thermal Baths have positive effects on body and mind!
In Sicily we can find several free Thermal Baths, but among the best known there are certainly the following:
The thermal baths of Segesta:
Its thermal waters flow at a temperature of 47 ° C and represent an uncontaminated natural source of undeniable beauty, so as to attract visitors from all parts of the world.
The most interesting aspect related to these baths is certainly the mythological one. The explanation of the high temperature of the waters is given by the myth of the river divinity Crimiso, who, as it is said, heated the waters to save a young nymph, named Egesta, who decided to rest on banks after escaping from the destroyed city of Troy. In this place the Egesta and Crimiso fell in love, giving the name Segesta to the city where their love was born.
This story connects the foundation of Segesta with the arrival of the Trojans who would have chosen this city precisely for the beneficial properties of the warm waters. There are 3 main baths: the Bagno delle Femmine, the Grotta Regina and the Nuova Sorgente, all known for their therapeutic power.
Acireale thermal baths:
The average temperature of the thermal water ranges from 11 degrees in winter to 24 degrees in summer, and for this very reason it allows you to fully enjoy the enchanting natural environment and the many initiatives that take place in the area. Furthermore, these baths represent a centre of hydrological, physical and rehabilitative medicine. It is also possible to enjoy a relaxing day together with a walk in the paths of the park close to the baths.
The thermal baths of Sciacca:
This is a complex of thermal water located in the province of Agrigento and precisely because of this proximity, they represent an excellent excuse to stop and visit the Valley of the Temples.
Vulcano Island Thermal Baths:
for those wishing to visit the island of Vulcano, here there are natural baths in the form of pools where you can bathe in hyperthermal and intensely sulphurous waters. Many thermal baths also flow directly into the sea. There are areas on the island where it is particularly pleasant to enter the water specially during winter time.
Have a joyful and relaxing season in Sicily!
